BronxWorks Workforce Development, Empowering Your Career Journey RESPONSIBILITIES Primary function is to provide community outreach, engagement, awareness, education, and resources, while bridging the gap between the Jobs Plus program and the communities we serve. Act as an intermediary to facilitate communication between BronxWorks and targeted NYCHA residents and members to raise public awareness and promotion of the Jobs Plus program employment related services, activities, resources, income supports, support services (i.e. legal assistance, mental health counseling, emergency food) ,benefits and incentives (i.e. Earned Income Disallowance). Promote and distribute program marketing materials (i.e. flyers) within and around the developments through a combination of knocking on doors, talking to residents in their homes or lobbies, and attending tenant association meetings, community meetings or events. Help to advertise upcoming events and program offerings on social media Ensure that messages are consistently delivered, allowing for an open dialogue between BronxWorks and the community. Develop a better understanding of what are the target audience needs and wants to enable the program to provide more relevant services and solutions that meet their audience’s needs. Responsible for developing and maintaining professional relationships between BronxWorks, partner organizations, and its various stakeholders (i.e. NYCHA REES, property management, etc.) Collaborate to organize outreach meetings and outreach activities/events Attend community events, such as Tenant’s association meetings, family days, and recreational events. This may also include community board meetings, and NYPD Public Service (PSA) meetings, national night out, etc. Other duties as assigned. POSITION CRITERIA: Leadership skills and self-starter Previous outreach or community engagement experience as a community liaison or organizer is a plus Must be comfortable working in intercultural settings. Have a wealth of knowledge to strategize engagement opportunities with the targeted community areas of Soundview and South Bronx. Strong qualities that will enable to effectively engage with, support community outreach, and build positive relationships within their community. Have adaptability and problem-solving skills to be productive in order to navigate unexpected situations, handle conflicts, and find creative solutions to challenges that arise within the community. Must have empathy and understanding when communicating with community partners and leaders. Ability to relate and connect with community members by maintaining professional relationships and demonstrating empathy for their concerns and challenges; while building trust and establish constructive relationships within the community. Strong use of the English language in verbal and written communication. Proficiency in Spanish preferred QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma/GED and at least 1 year experience working in social services. In lieu of a degree, 2 years relevant experience preferably in social services. Exceptional communication skills, strong organization and interpersonal skills and qualities. Knowledge and proficiency of Microsoft Office suite and other standard business technology is required. Data management and tracking is required. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Ability to use a computer for prolonged periods. Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Ability to stand, walk, or sit for long periods of time. Ability to climb five flights of stairs, if required to conduct home visits and/or fieldwork. Ability to bend and retrieve objects and/or documents. Ability to travel in the boroughs of New York City and its adjacent counties via public transportation. Ability to travel for a minimum of 1 mile within a reasonable amount of time and in all types of weather, including inclement weather, if required to conduct home visits and/or field work.
