Driver (Part-Time) (Internship Opportunities)

Job Summary

Workshops Empowerment Inc. is seeking a reliable and courteous individual to serve as a part-time driver. This role includes operating a box truck (up to 26 feet) for local deliveries and pickups, representing the organization professionally, and assisting with Affirmative Business Enterprise (ABE) tasks when not on the road. The ideal candidate is organized, service-oriented, and comfortable working alongside individuals of all abilities.

Key Responsibilities

Driving Duties

  • Safely operate a box truck for scheduled pickups and deliveries.
  • Provide excellent customer service to clients at delivery sites.
  • Complete daily and weekly vehicle inspections (e.g., tire pressure, fluid levels).
  • Keep the vehicle clean, organized, and report any maintenance needs promptly.

Production Support

  • Assist with assembling kits, packaging, sorting, labeling, and preparing products for shipment.
  • Follow instructions and quality standards for all ABE tasks.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.

General Duties

  • Assist with loading/unloading using a forklift (training/certification available).
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members.
  • Support safety protocols and inclusive team practices.
  • Assume other duties as requested by management.

Training Duties (Part-Time Position Only)

  • Provide hands-on training experiences to qualified interns through the Empower Pathways program.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record (must meet insurance requirements).
  • Part-Time - High school diploma or GED required.
  • Part-Time - Experience driving box trucks preferred (CDL not required).
  • Comfortable working with diverse individuals, including those living with disabilities.
  • Ability to lift to 60 lbs. and stand for extended periods.
  • Strong work ethic, dependability, and punctuality required.
  • Must pass the background check.

Work Environment

  • Primary work occurs in a warehouse setting and on local delivery routes.
  • Moderate noise levels.
  • Physical activity may include lifting, bending, reaching, and standing.

Benefits for Part-Time Employees (N/A for Interns)

  • Eligible for retirement plan and credit union savings plan after 90 days.
  • Workers' Compensation and Social Security provided.

Pay Per Hour: $9.00 - $10.00 for Part-Time / $7.25 for Internship
