Ensure efficient handling, delivery, and tracking of mail, packages, supplies, and equipment in support of student services operations at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) in Charleston, SC. As DAWSON's Post Office / Courier / Warehouse Specialist, you will support mailroom operations, campus-wide courier services, and warehouse/logistics functions to ensure timely, secure, and accurate routing, storage, and distribution of materials supporting student living and training environments.
Responsibilities:
- Receive, sort, and distribute incoming mail and packages addressed to student services departments, staff, and on-campus residents.
- Prepare and process outgoing mail and shipments, including packaging, labeling, postage, and coordination with USPS and private carriers.
- Maintain mail logs, certified mail records, and tracking documentation for inbound and outbound deliveries.
- Operate a vehicle to transport mail, packages, and supplies across FLETC Charleston's campus on scheduled and on-demand routes.
- Perform daily courier services including interoffice mail delivery, package distribution, and point-to-point transport within the facility and local area.
- Ensure compliance with FLETC security, privacy, and handling procedures for official and personal mail.
- Operate the FLETC Post Office during designated hours and ensure it is not left unattended during service windows.
- Receive, inspect, log, and process incoming warehouse shipments; verify contents against documentation and report discrepancies or damages.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and tracking systems for supplies, materials, and equipment.
- Store, organize, issue, and restock inventory using proper warehouse practices.
- Pull, stage, and distribute materials to support student services, classrooms, dormitories, and administrative functions.
- Coordinate pickups, deliveries, and distribution of materials between warehouse, mailroom, dormitories, and training areas.
- Execute internal move orders and transport materials, furniture, and equipment between locations.
- Support student supply operations including distribution of training materials, office supplies, and consumables.
- Assist with classroom setup and reset functions.
- Support bottled water service, including replenishment and sanitation of water stations.
- Perform shredding and disposal of materials in accordance with policy.
- Operate and inspect material handling equipment.
- Load and unload freight and deliveries safely and efficiently.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of mailroom, warehouse, and vehicles.
- Conduct routine inspections of work areas to identify safety concerns.
- Safeguard Government-furnished property, materials, and equipment.
- Prepare and submit routine reports including inventory and delivery logs.
- Assist with periodic inventory counts, audits, and supply replenishment activities.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 1 year of experience in mailroom, courier, warehouse, or logistics operations.
- Familiarity with mail handling procedures, inventory systems, and shipping/receiving processes.
- Ability to lift and carry packages and materials up to 50 lbs.
- Valid state-issued driver's license and clean driving record.
- Ability to operate delivery vehicles and basic material handling equipment.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management skills.
- Basic computer skills for tracking, reporting, and communication.
Additional Requirements:
- Must be eligible for DHS background investigation and suitability clearance.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident with work authorization.
- This position may require the operation of Company-provided vehicles.
- If operating Company-provided vehicles, maintaining a valid driver's license in good standing is a condition of employment.
- If operating Company-provided vehicles, employee must comply with all Company vehicle use and safety policies, as well as all applicable traffic laws.
- If operating Company-provided vehicles, the Company may review your motor vehicle record (MVR), as permitted by law, to verify eligibility to operate Company vehicles.
Salary Range - $22.10 Per Hour
