The department of Sociology within the Division of Academic Affairs is committed to providing students with the skills and methods to study social behavior from a sociological perspective. Our mission is to cultivate in students a critical, ethical, and inclusive understanding of complex social issues. The department delivers high-quality undergraduate and graduate programs in sociology, fostering a supportive, student focused learning environment while encouraging active engagement in both local and global communities. We seek an exceptional individual to join our team as the Administrative Support Assistant II. Salary Range: $3,565 - $3,936 per month

Appointment Type: Time Base: Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Essential Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or the equivalent.
  • General working knowledge of applicable university infrastructure, policies, and procedures.
  • Thorough knowledge of office methods, procedures, practices, and equipment.
  • Thorough knowledge of English grammar, punctuation, and spelling with demonstrated competence in effectively presenting standard information in writing.
  • Ability to learn, interpret independently, apply, and identify deviations from a variety of complex policies and procedures.
  • Ability to apply independent judgment, discretion, and initiative to address problems and develop practical, thorough and, at times, creative solutions.
  • Ability to perform arithmetic functions of a transactional nature, including tracking and comparing data.
  • Ability to work on the front line, with a variety of campus and community individuals requiring active problem solving and effective interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated competence in understanding, interpreting, and communicating procedures, policies, information, ideas, and instructions.
  • Basic typing and keyboarding skills.
  • A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two years of experience working in an academic departmental setting within a large, high-volume department.
  • Demonstrated ability to oversee multiple priorities, support faculty and staff, and maintain accuracy in fast-paced environment.
