Henry Mayo needs a Point of Care Traveler for the Lab. 40 hours per week x5 days per week. Day shift (mostly 0800 start). Every other weekend 0530-1400. The POC Coord is responsible for establishing, implementing and coordinating ongoing activities of the Point of Care Testing (POCT) program in the hospital, and other hospital related areas as required. Works closely with IT personnel, nursing leadership and personnel, nursing education, department supervisors and the laboratory director, taking a lead role to ensure that Point of Care Testing quality assurance is maintained and compliant with all regulatory agencies (JCAHO, CAP, CLIA). Assures compliance of the Laboratory Information System with regulatory agencies. Traveler to start asap. Assures compliance of the laboratory information system with regulatory agencies. Develops, reviews and maintains LIS operating procedures. Oversees and coordinates the general operation of the Point of Care testing program in the hospital and additional sites as required. Serves as POC-testing resource and provides guidance and instruction in developing, monitoring, and maintaining testing sites' quality control programs to ensure the highest quality results to patients and physicians Reviews and incorporates federal regulations and accreditation standards into POCT processes. Maintains awareness of changes to regulation and updates the program accordingly. Evaluates new procedures and methods before implementation in compliance with regulatory agencies and department protocol. Audits and evaluate POCT specific processes for compliance and trends. Assumes responsibilities of special projects and assists in the development of programs and procedures. Works closely with nursing education to train, orient and assure ongoing competency of all operators as required by CAP, CLIA and CDPH Creates, maintains and reviews POCT policies and procedures as required Evaluates test results, test processes, quality control, IQCP, and quality assurance documentation and assures continued compliance as applicable Participates in preparation of testing procedures and provides regulatory updates as needed according to CLIA standards, CAP accreditation guidelines, and institutional requirements Attends and actively participates in performance improvement projects initiatives, education, training, in-services and staff meetings in the laboratory. Participates in monthly clinical laboratory Quality Management Meetings, tracking and trending data and identifying improvement opportunities. Provides education to LTAs, CLSs and MLTs regarding Point of Care testing materials and processes as needed. Serve as a liaison for the laboratory by effectively interacting with other health care providers. Licensure and Certification: • Current California CLS License Education: • BS/BA required, • Completion of education/training in Point of Care testing preferred Experience: • 2-5 years previous experience in a hospital environment implementing and maintaining a Point of Care Testing program . Knowledge and Skills: • Generalist CLS including chemistry, urinalysis, hematology, coagulation. • LIS computer system knowledge • Project management • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing • Ability to work flexible shifts • Strong organizational skills • Critical thinking skills • Problem solving skills Equipment: LIS computer system Point of Care testing and Laboratory equipment
