Position Summary: The Digital Equity Ambassador is a paid internship opportunity designed for individuals with disabilities who are passionate about digital inclusion, accessibility, and community engagement. Ambassadors will complete a 4-week training focused on digital literacy, technology navigation, outreach, and culturally competent engagement.Following training, Ambassadors will be placed at local sites throughout Alameda County to provide technology support and digital literacy education to seniors and people with disabilities. This role also includes professional development through workshops and mentorship to support job readiness and future career opportunities.Essential Job Functions:Provide basic technology support to seniors and people with disabilitiesAssist community members with digital literacy skills and navigating online tools and servicesSupport technology learning sessions at senior centers and community sites, including The Center for Independent Living offices in Berkeley and Fruitvale.Participate in outreach efforts to promote digital inclusion and accessAssist individuals in accessing devices, online resources, and essential servicesSupport administrative tasks at the Center for Independent Living office as neededAttend and actively participate in training, workshops, and mentorship opportunitiesMaintain consistent communication with supervisor and program staffProgram Highlights:Training provided in digital literacy, outreach, accessibility, and culturally competent engagementMonthly commitment: 16 hours (approximately 4 hours per week)Training begins in May 2026Up to 8 months of paid opportunity, with the potential of...Pay: $400 per month (monthly stipend)Education and/or Experience:No formal education requiredLived experience with disability requiredPrevious experience with technology, customer service, or community engagement is a plus but not requiredWillingness to learn and complete a 4-week training program prior to placementQualifications:Must be a person with a disabilityMust reside in Alameda CountyMust be able to pass a background checkMust be able to travel to Oakland and/or BerkeleyDemonstrated experience working with older adults with disabilitiesCulturally responsive and respectful interpersonal communication skillsStrong interpersonal skills with a patient, calm, and adaptable approachSelf-directed, with a demonstrated ability to manage time and multiple tasks effectivelyAbility to work in a collaborative environment with other staff and community partnersExcellent organizational and planning abilities, with the capacity to adapt quickly in dynamic environments.Strong problem-solving, curriculum planning, and implementation skillsMust have reliable transportation and be available for in-person participationPassionate about digital inclusion and community serviceComfortable assisting others with basic technologyTech-savvy or eager to learn digital toolsStrong communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to work independently and as part of a teamPhysical Demands:Must be able to lift 10 poundsTravel to schools and other agencies and organizations when neededReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
