Receiving Clerk The Receiving Clerk / Coordinator plays a key role in managing the inbound flow of goods to ensure accuracy, quality, and timely processing of shipments. This position verifies deliveries against purchase orders, coordinates with vendors and internal teams, and ensures proper labeling, documentation, and storage of materials. The role supports warehouse efficiency and inventory accuracy through detailed receiving procedures and communication.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Receiving & Inspection: Receive and inspect all incoming shipments; verify items against packing slips, purchase orders, and invoices.
System Entry: Accurately record receipt of items in inventory or Warehouse Management System (WMS/ERP).
Labeling & Tagging: Ensure received goods are correctly labeled and tagged for identification and tracking.
Unloading Coordination: Work with warehouse staff to safely and efficiently unload and stage incoming shipments.
Discrepancy Resolution: Identify and communicate issues with shipments (shortages, damages, overages) to the purchasing team and vendors.
Documentation: Maintain detailed receiving logs and ensure accurate record-keeping for compliance and tracking purposes.
Storage Coordination: Organize and move received goods to their appropriate storage areas within the warehouse.
Inventory Support: Assist with cycle counts, audits, and general inventory accuracy tasks.
Safety & Cleanliness: Keep the receiving area clean, safe, and organized in accordance with safety guidelines and company standards.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Familiarity with WMS or ERP systems for inventory tracking
Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
Basic computer proficiency (Excel, data entry, email)
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work on foot for long periods
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams
Education & Experience:
Degree Required: Not required
Experience: 13 years in warehouse receiving or inventory roles
Technical Skills: Operation of handheld scanners and tablets; basic analytics and reporting via Excel or Google Sheets
Licenses/Certifications: Not required

Physical & Work Environment Requirements:
Physical Requirements: Seeing, color perception, listening, lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling up to 50 lbs
Work Environment: Shift work; exposure to noise, dust, mechanical/electrical equipment, and moving warehouse vehicles; face-to-face collaboration required
Mental Requirements: Basic reading and math, strong analytical comprehension, sound judgment and decision-making
Available Shifts:
1st Shift: Morning start afternoon finish
2nd Shift: Afternoon start evening finish
3rd Shift: Evening start morning finish
