Summer School Bus Driver Part Time

Qualifications:

  • Current Alabama Driver's License, Commercial Driver's License and insurable with MPS insurance carrier.
  • Experience operating school buses desired.
  • Working with the public or school age children preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operates school buses in accordance with Alabama Law and Departmental regulations.
  • Conducts thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of assigned bus and equipment.
  • Allow only authorized personnel on the bus. Pick up and discharge passengers only at authorized stops.
  • Maintains discipline of students while on the bus. Reports violations and discrepancies to proper authorities.
  • Prepares and submits reports, timecards, etc. in accordance with Departmental regulations.
  • May assist special needs passengers in boarding and exiting the bus.
  • Cleans and services assigned vehicle; attends training and in-service activities.
  • Foster a positive relationship with parents, volunteers, and other school visitors.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Special Note: For employees starting work after the beginning date of the work term, the salary will be pro-rated and based on the number of contract days left in the school year, divided by the remaining months in the contract year.
