Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Step into a meaningful role supporting elementary students as a Special Education Teacher in a Social Emotional Behavior classroom for grades 3-5. This contract position is full-time, covering 40 hours a week onsite from 8:20 AM to 3:40 PM, running May 2026 through October 2026 (with a break for the summer). Located near vibrant West Hartford, CT, this opportunity lets you foster positive change and help students build critical social-emotional skills.

Desired Experience and Qualifications:

  • Valid Special Education Teacher certification (or eligibility for CT certification)
  • Proven experience working with elementary-aged students, especially those with social-emotional or behavioral challenges
  • Deep understanding of individualized education plans (IEPs) and ability to implement accommodations and modifications effectively
  • Strong classroom management skills and familiarity with evidence-based behavioral interventions
  • Collaborative attitude with excellent communication skills, able to work alongside fellow educators, related service providers, and families
  • Commitment to maintaining a supportive, structured, and inclusive classroom environment

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction and support to students in grades 3-5 with diverse social-emotional and behavioral needs
  • Design, implement, and monitor individualized education programs (IEPs)
  • Foster students’ personal growth by teaching coping strategies and positive social behaviors
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to adapt curriculum and integrate therapeutic strategies within academic lessons
  • Track student progress, document data, and adjust interventions as needed
  • Create a classroom atmosphere that supports respect, encouragement, and academic engagement
